Major General Lasantha Rodrigo appointed as the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army
Major General Lasantha Rodrigo was appointed as the 25th Army Commander of Sri Lanka today (30), following the conclusion of Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage's service extension, which ends tomorrow.
Previously serving as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General Rodrigo takes over the leadership role with extensive military experience.
Additionally, Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda was appointed as the new Navy Commander today.
Meanwhile, the Gajaba Regiment (GR) ceremonially bids farewell to one of their epic members of the Keterian family, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, on 29 December 2024.
The event marked a significant moment of respect and gratitude for his exemplary service.
The formalities for the outgoing Army Chief commenced with a solemn floral tribute at the Regimental Monument, followed by a Guard Turnout presented by the GR
